What we find in the small woods of Claude Gaget is a dream of a tree with delicate or imaginary leaves, a green oak which is a bit evil, or a variety which is only known to the author.
Gaget’s talent lies in the ability to ally forms and materials with coloration.
Looking at his pieces, what you notice is that there’s not a single false note, just emotion and several references. As he plays with both the vegetable and mineral worlds, he knows how to bring to it the poetry needed for realism to tip into the imagination and become tinted with the pastel colours of nostalgia.
